Milborne Port Weather is a website primarily set up to show the current weather conditions in this village in south-east Somerset, close to the Dorset border. The weatherstation is situated approximately 51.0° latitude, 2.5°, longitude with elevation approximately 85m above sea level.
The area of the web page that scrolls horizontally is powered by a Java applet. If the text is not scrolling smoothly, it may be running an old version of Java, which could be updated via a free download from the Sun website: www.sun.com . The idea of this area is that a considerable amount of data can pass across the scroll box quite quickly if the mouse cursor is away from the box. If the user places the mouse cursor inside the scroll box once they identify a value of interest, the scrolling will slow down sufficiently that the text becomes easily readable.
